Jamaica Hospital Medical Center Receives the American College of Cardiology Award for Cardiac Care
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is proud to announce that it is the recipient of the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry–GWTG Silver Performance Achievement Award for 2017. Jamaica Hospital was one of only three hospitals in New York City, and the only hospital in Queens to earn this achievement.
The award recognizes Jamaica Hospital Medical Center ’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that the hospital has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.
To receive the ACTION Registry–GWTG Silver Performance Achievement Award, Jamaica Hospital Medical consistently followed the treatment guidelines in the ACTION Registry–GWTG for four consecutive quarters and met a performance standard of 90 percent for specific performance measures. Full participation in the registry engages hospitals in a robust quality improvement process using data to drive improvements in adherence to guideline recommendations and overall quality of care provided to heart attack patients.
In addition to earning the GWTG Silver Performance Award, Jamaica Hospital’s Cardiology Department received the American Heart Association’s 2017; Get with the Guidelines Heart Failure Bronze Award. The award was given to the hospital in recognition of its commitment to treating heart failure patients with 85% or higher compliance to core standard levels of care, as outlined by the American Heart Association for 90 consecutive days.
“The American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association commend Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for its success in implementing standards of care and protocols, “said James Jollis, MD, FACC, ACTION Registry-GWTG Chair and Professor of Medicine and Radiology at Duke University Hospital.
“Receiving these prestigious awards is a proud achievement. They reflect the hard work and dedication of our staff in caring for some of our most seriously ill patients and their families,” said Bruce J. Flanz; President and CEO at Jamaica Hospital. “It is also a reflection of the successful coordination of our Cardiology team and emergency personnel, who work together to improve outcomes of heart patients and save lives.”
