Flushing Hospital Medical Center will be celebrating the completion of itÛªs soon-to-be open, brand new, state-of-the-art Ambulatory Care Center during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, September 26th at 10:00 a.m.
The new, 8,900 square foot Ambulatory Care Center is now conveniently located at the front entrance of Flushing HospitalÛªs Medical Science Building on the corner of 45th Avenue and Burling Street, making it much more accessible for all. It will replace the existing center and offer many improvements and conveniences, including 32 modern examination rooms, 12 more than the currently offered. The expanded space will allow Flushing Hospital to treat approximately 50% more patients in a variety of services including medicine, pediatrics, surgery and many other sub-specialties. The center also boasts separate adult and pediatric reception areas with dedicated registration staff in each. Also housed within the center are radiology, ENT and ophthalmology suites and a centrally located nursing station.
More important than the size of the center, is how it meets Flushing HospitalÛªs goal of providing the ultimate patient-friendly outpatient environment for our community. Through its recent National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Patient Centered Medical Home status, Flushing HospitalÛªs Ambulatory Care Center has been recognized as a model for providing patient centered, coordinated care that facilitates partnerships between our patients and their personal physicians.
ÛÏOur goal is population health managementÛ stated Bruce J. Flanz, President & CEO. ÛÏWe want to stress the importance of maintaining a healthy community. Through the creation of our new Ambulatory Care Center, we feel that we are providing a place where our patients can maintain their health by receiving regular, preventative care visits and avoid any serious issues that could result in unnecessary emergency department visits or hospital admissions.Û
Through a well-organized, patient-centered design, the new Ambulatory Care Center at Flushing Hospital promises to allow for a comfortable environment that stresses a shorter waiting time. In addition to an improved layout, Flushing HospitalÛªs new Ambulatory Care Center also incorporated its new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, which allows for enhanced patient monitoring. The EHR also allows for electronic e-prescribing of medications to the hospitalÛªs on-site retail pharmacy or any other pharmacy. The MyChart feature of the EHR also allows patients to become more involved in their care by accessing their health records and making appointments.
ÛÏAfter more than a year of planning and construction, Flushing Hospital is pleased that we are finally ready to open our new Ambulatory Care Center. While this is just one of many improvements we have made to our facility in recent years, we feel that this is the most significant because it addresses the future of health care and the direction to provide more out-patient services to a healthier communityÛ stated Robert V. Levine, Executive Vice President & COO.
