Currently there are more than 10,000 New Yorkers on a waiting list for a lifesaving organ and every two and a half hours a name is added to that list. With the lives of so many at stake, Jamaica Hospital, LiveOnNY and Queens Borough President Melinda Katz are raising awareness on the importance of organ donation and urging Queens residents to register as donors.
On April 20th both organizations and Queens Borough President Katz will host a flag-raising ceremony in celebration of National Donate Life Month. Additionally, in an effort to register as many people as possible to the New York State Donor Registry, an enrollment drive will take place in the main lobby of Jamaica Hospital.
