{"id":2518,"date":"2016-05-13T18:41:55","date_gmt":"2016-05-13T18:41:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/?p=2518"},"modified":"2016-05-17T20:09:55","modified_gmt":"2016-05-17T20:09:55","slug":"jamaica-and-flushing-hospital-volunteers-honored-at-united-hospital-funds-volunteer-achievement-ceremony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/jamaica-and-flushing-hospital-volunteers-honored-at-united-hospital-funds-volunteer-achievement-ceremony\/","title":{"rendered":"Jamaica and Flushing Hospital Volunteers Honored at United Hospital Fund\u2019s  Volunteer Achievement Ceremony"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb_share_1\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a name=\"fb_share\" type=\"box_count\" share_url=\"https:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/jamaica-and-flushing-hospital-volunteers-honored-at-united-hospital-funds-volunteer-achievement-ceremony\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sharer.php\">Share<\/a><\/div><div><script src=\"http:\/\/static.ak.fbcdn.net\/connect.php\/js\/FB.Share\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/div><p>From L-R Arlette Cunningham; Volunteer Manager JHMC, Mohan Dyal\u00a0and WABC TV news anchor Ken Rosato<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this spring, Jamaica and Flushing Hospital Medical Center volunteers Dylan Gettings and Mohan Dyal were honored at the United Hospital Fund\u2019s 23rd annual Hospital Auxillian and Volunteer Achievement Awards ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Eighty-seven volunteers from 61 hospitals throughout New York were honored for providing exceptional service to the hospitals where they volunteer.\u00a0 Gettings from Flushing Hospital and Dyal from Jamaica Hospital were selected from thousands of nominees who dedicated millions of hours of their time to volunteering.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/gettings-volunteer-pic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2521 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/gettings-volunteer-pic-300x240.jpg\" alt=\"gettings volunteer  pic\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/gettings-volunteer-pic-300x240.jpg 300w, https:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/gettings-volunteer-pic-374x300.jpg 374w, https:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/gettings-volunteer-pic.jpg 401w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The volunteers came from all walks of life, a wide range of professions and have served in various hospital settings.\u00a0 Mohan Dyal, a retired farmer from Guyana, was recognized for starting a foster grandparent program at Jamaica Hospital.\u00a0 He volunteers thirty hours every week, engaging children in a variety of activities while they wait to see their doctor.
