{"id":2698,"date":"2016-08-23T14:45:10","date_gmt":"2016-08-23T14:45:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/?p=2698"},"modified":"2016-08-23T15:06:59","modified_gmt":"2016-08-23T15:06:59","slug":"jhmc-celebrates-receiving-deficiency-free-score-on-trauma-verification-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/jhmc-celebrates-receiving-deficiency-free-score-on-trauma-verification-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"JHMC Celebrates Receiving Deficiency-Free Score on Trauma Verification Survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb_share_1\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a name=\"fb_share\" type=\"box_count\" share_url=\"https:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/jhmc-celebrates-receiving-deficiency-free-score-on-trauma-verification-survey\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sharer.php\">Share<\/a><\/div><div><script src=\"http:\/\/static.ak.fbcdn.net\/connect.php\/js\/FB.Share\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/div><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2700\" src=\"http:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Healey-Trauma-DSC_5469-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Healey Trauma DSC_5469\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Healey-Trauma-DSC_5469-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Healey-Trauma-DSC_5469-768x508.jpg 768w, https:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Healey-Trauma-DSC_5469-453x300.jpg 453w, https:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Healey-Trauma-DSC_5469.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>On August 12, Jamaica Hospital Medical Center held a special ceremony to mark the major achievement of receiving a deficiency-free score following an intensive trauma verification and review process conducted by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).<\/p>\n<p>According to the ACS, each assessment is based on \u201ccommitment, readiness, resources, policies, patient care, performance improvement, and other relevant features of the program as outlined in Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The American College of Surgeon\u2019s verification affirmed the hospital\u2019s ability to provide first-rate care to trauma patients of all levels. \u201cACS standards require a hospital to have the best of the best in critical care,\u201d explained Trauma Medical Director; Dr. Geoffrey Doughlin.<\/p>\n<p>While validation from accredited organizations such as the American College of Surgeons is very important to the hospital\u2019s leadership and staff, the experiences of patients are as equally valued.\u00a0 Each year the trauma team treats over 1,700 patients and on countless occasions has saved the lives of many.<\/p>\n<p>One of the many patients treated includes New York City Police Officer Kenneth Healey, who attended the verification ceremony and was happy to attest to Jamaica Hospital trauma team\u2019s high level of performance and commitment to positive patient outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Healey shared his testimony with several news outlets as to how the trauma team saved his life. \u201cI feel lucky to be standing in front of you today,\u201d the Officer told reporters. \u201cI had all my needs met and it\u2019s all thanks to the doctors and nurses that were by my side.\u201d\u00a0 In 2014, Officer Healey was viciously attacked and struck in the head while on duty; he was rushed to Jamaica Hospital where he received life-saving care.
