{"id":4439,"date":"2019-05-30T17:11:40","date_gmt":"2019-05-30T17:11:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/?p=4439"},"modified":"2019-05-30T18:20:54","modified_gmt":"2019-05-30T18:20:54","slug":"dr-luigi-tullo-receives-award-from-the-united-hospital-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/dr-luigi-tullo-receives-award-from-the-united-hospital-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Luigi Tullo Receives Award from the United Hospital Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb_share_1\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a name=\"fb_share\" type=\"box_count\" share_url=\"https:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/dr-luigi-tullo-receives-award-from-the-united-hospital-fund\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sharer.php\">Share<\/a><\/div><div><script src=\"http:\/\/static.ak.fbcdn.net\/connect.php\/js\/FB.Share\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/div><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4441\" src=\"http:\/\/medisyshealth.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/zUHF_Tribute19_169-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"264\" height=\"179\" \/>On Monday, May 6<sup>th<\/sup>, Dr. Luigi Tullo received a United Hospital Fund \u201cTribute to Excellence in Health Care\u201d award.\u00a0 This award is presented to healthcare professionals recognized as Quality Improvement Champions across the New York Metropolitan area.<\/p>\n<p>According to the United Hospital Fund, nominations were awarded to individuals who exemplified \u201cextraordinary personal leadership to improve quality care, patient safety, and patient experience of care\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Through Dr. Tullo\u2019s leadership, the Outpatient Antibiotics Stewardship Initiative (OASI) at Jamaica Hospital has developed measures to improve how antibiotics are prescribed by doctors and how patients are using them. As part of this initiative, the hospital has implemented tools to assist physicians in their electronic medical records and has used teaching aids from the CDC\u2019s \u201cGet Smart\u201d public education campaign to inform patients.<\/p>\n<p>The Outpatient Antibiotic Stewardship Initiative has significantly improved provider prescribing practices and patient understanding of antibiotics misuse.
